A Shino ware incense burner echoing the mythic isles of immortals
This exquisite 赤志野 (Aka Shino) incense burner draws deeply from the ancient Daoist vision of Mount Penglai — the legendary island paradise where immortals roam among rare herbs and fantastical creatures. Crafted in the classic 博山炉 (Horai kōro) form, its lid rises in sculpted crags pierced with delicate openings, allowing fragrant smoke to drift forth like wisps of cloud winding through sacred peaks. It stands as a poetic homage to celestial realms where nature and spirit meet.
The round body is glazed in the distinctive milky-white and warm russet tones of 赤志野, hand-painted with a serene winter scene: snow-laden pines stand watch over a pair of gentle wild hares, capturing the quiet mysteries and subtle life of the season.
More than a vessel for incense, this kōro becomes a miniature landscape — a living tableau where each curl of smoke transforms into drifting mountain mists, inviting the mind to wander beyond the everyday into realms of timeless beauty and tranquil wonder.
Comes with a pack of Kodo ash.
Approximate size: 8cm x 8cm x 10.5cm.
