Kōfukoji Fu-Sho-Koh 10g

In its raw form the sticks exude a cool borneol note, the coveted scent of Dragon's brain. When burnt, this incense smells of the typical scent profile that people associate with incense from the Hei'an period, i.e. Hei'an Koh. The scent is dry, spicy woody, hints of dry wood fibre gently burning in a fireplace, albeit like Baieido's kunsho/kokonoe incense series, except that this incense is made by yamadamatsu. The smoke is gentle and light, there is no thick mid tones nor heavy body, just fragrant notes in the alto to high registers. The scent is very natural smelling, no traces of synthetics detectable at least to me, and can be considered a representative incense scent profile from the historical times.
