This is a very special tree of which the leaf, twigs and bark is being milled and made into an incense. This tree is believed to be able to ward negativity and evil as such has been used in Japan and nearby regions for religious purposes. The leaf of the shikimi tree is central to many buddhist rituals, especially in the esoteric traditions. The unburnt material smells very faint, a light green woodiness. When burnt, it gives a mild white smoke, the smell is light and lends to the air a faint woody note, with a tiny bit of sweetness. The scent is not strong and not dominant, instead it is diffussive and light.

This is a stick to go to if you are looking for something "background" like, this incense is not paint, it is not a brush, not a writing apparatus, but seems to give to a canvas a tiny sheen of tone or sparkle. As an incense maker, this material could become a very useful core material for blends to be formulated onto. Just like how the tibetans and shamans would use rhododendrons or juniper as a core material, this material is an equivalent, just milder smelling and almost neutral in character.

Comes in a 10 grams tube.
