Xuan-he Ko-Koh Granulated Incense
An Incense Fit for Kings truly! A tribute to imperial refinement, Xuan-he Ko-Koh is a tonifying and spirit-lifting incense blend inspired by the golden eras of the Tang and Song dynasties, when scent was as much medicine as it was art.
Crafted with ingredients once reserved for nobility — aloeswood from the Nanban “southern barbarians,” Siberian musk, Karnataka sandalwood, Silk Road spices and resins, and most notably, wild natural borneol (龙脑香, Dragon’s Brain) from the fabled isles of Srivijaya, an ingredient once said to be worth more than its weight in gold.
Painstakingly balanced in precise proportions, this incense is a masterwork of harmony — powdered into incense sachets to gently perfume one’s surroundings, or gently heated at the threshold of perception, awakening with a breath of cool shimmer. It opens like a shy blossom: ethereal, translucent. Then comes the powdery musk, followed by a creamy, delicately spiced heart, culminating in a rich floral-sandalwood body crowned by oudy Nanban warmth.
Though not made for internal use, the formula echoes ancient 香药 (incense-medicines) — a sublimated tonicum for the soul, inhaled rather than ingested. An offering to the senses, a ritual of restoration. This incense, if milled to fineness and made into a pill, will be a blend that nourishes and tonify the “spirit”.
Comes in 5g bottle.
