This is a historically significant incense as it was recorded in the letters from Tendai Founder, Saicho, to Shingon Founder, Kukai, thanking him for the lovely incense gift that was very fragrant. These letters were preserved at Toji for the past thousand years, and in recent times the incense recipe were re-interpreted and recreated for us to enjoy in the stick format today.
